Suggested Student Teaching Schedule

Note: The following outlines a recommended schedule based on a 12-week Student Teaching Assignment. If a longer Student Teaching Practicum is arranged, please adjust the schedule.

Prior to
Week 1

Contact CT & FS; Arrange initial meeting; Discuss expectations, policies, and procedures. Discuss Teacher Work Sample (TWS) with CT. Contact Field Placement Administrator (FPA) with any questions. Submit tutorial. Set up TaskStream account.

Meet with ST & FS; Discuss expectations, policies, procedures. Develop schedule for observation, evaluation, and teaching. Discuss Teacher Work Sample (TWS). Contact Field Placement Administrator (FPA) with any questions; Submit W-9 and tutorial. Set up TaskStream account.

Meet with ST & CT; Discuss expectations, policies, procedures. Develop schedule for Mid-Term and Final Evaluations. Contact Field Placement Administrator (FPA) with any questions; Submit W-9 and tutorial. Set up TaskStream account.

Week 1

Acclimate self to classroom. Observe. Review components and requirements of TWS with CT.

Assist ST in acclimating to classroom. Introduce to students, other school faculty and staff. Review components and requirements of TWS with ST.

Assist ST in acclimating to school. Introduce to others.
Week 2

Continue to observe. Begin assisting with lessons. Discuss Professional Growth Plan with CT and FS.

Allow ST to begin assisting with lessons.  Discuss Professional Growth Plan with ST.

Make self available for questions and feedback.  Discuss Professional Growth Plan with ST.

Week 3 Continue to assist with lessons. Discuss and plan timeline for TWS with CT.  Evaluations and forms must be submitted to CT and FS via TaskStream by this week.

Continue to support and assist with lessons. Discuss and plan timeline for TWS with ST.

Informal observation and evaluation of ST.
Week 4

Take on additional lessons. Continue to discuss TWS with CT.

Gradually increase ST teaching responsibility. Continue to discuss TWS with ST.

Arrange meeting with CT to discuss upcoming Mid-Term Evaluation.

Week 5 Increase work load. Increase workload Be available for questions, concerns and feedback.
Week 6

Mid-Term Evaluation and Grading Form are completed by CT and FS. Review and acknowledge forms via TaskStream once completed by CT & FS.

Mid-Term Evaluation: Submission of Mid-Term Evaluation to TaskStream.  Collaborate with FS on Mid-Term Student Teaching Grading Form

Mid-Term Evaluation: Submission of Mid-Term Evaluation and Student Teaching Grading Form to TaskStream

Week 7 Increase responsibility; Discuss implementation of Teacher Work Sample. Increase ST responsibility; Discuss 3-week full-time teaching plan and Teacher Work Sample. Be available for questions, concerns and feedback.
Week 8 Implement Teacher Work Sample. Assist in implementing Teacher Work samples. Be available for questions, concerns and feedback.
Week 9 Fully in charge of classes; Teacher Work Sample Be available for questions and concerns and inform ST of progress. Be available for questions, concerns and feedback.
Week 10 Fully in charge of classes; Teacher Work Sample. Be available for questions and concerns and inform ST of progress. Arrange meeting with CT and ST to discuss final evaluation and progress.
Week 11 Fully in charge of classes; Teacher Work Sample. Be available for questions and concerns and inform ST of progress. Be available for questions, concerns and feedback.
Week 12

Begin to transition class back to CT. Final Evaluation and Grading Forms are completed by CT and FS.  Review and acknowledge forms via TaskStream once completed by CT & FS.  Submit evaluations of CT and FS to FPA.

Final Evaluation: Submission of Final Evaluation to TaskStream.  Collaborate with FS on Final Student Teaching Grading Form
