Elementary Education Certificate
(Kindergarten - Grade 8)
The Arizona Department of Education, Teacher Certification Unit, requires the following for Elementary Teacher Certification*:
Possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
Forty-five semester hours of education courses from an accredited institution, including at least eight semester hours of practicum* in grades K - 8. Two years of verified teaching experience in grades pre-kindergarten - 8 may substitute for the practicum.
Passing score on the ATPA Elementary Professional Knowledge Exam

*Please note that the coursework outlined on this page is only applicable to those who have the teaching experience necessary to waive student teaching. If you are unable to waive student teaching, you must enroll in the Teacher Education Program (TED) to meet certification requirements.
