University of Phoenix Faculty
At University of Phoenix, faculty are the most essential element of the learning process. As facilitators of education, faculty members interact with students to help bridge the gap between theory and practice. Rather than dictating conformity, our instructors promote interaction and help students achieve self-direction. Faculty are also instrumental in creating and improving courses and programs.

No Child Left Behind Act of 2001
On January 8, 2002, President Bush signed into law the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001. The Act is the most sweeping reform of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) since ESEA was enacted in 1965. It redefines the federal role in K-12 education and strives to close the achievement gap between disadvantaged and minority students and their peers. It is based on four basic principles: stronger accountability for results, increased flexibility and local control, expanded options for parents, and an emphasis on proven teaching methods. The University incorporates these principles into the design and development of its continuing education curriculum.
The Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA)
University of Phoenix recognizes and accepts its obligations under the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 and the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, prohibiting discrimination on the basis of a disability and requiring the University to provide reasonable accommodations to qualified disabled students in all University programs and activities. Students have the responsibility to both self-disclose and request accommodation through the campus ADA Compliance Officer at 480-557-2099. Communication with faculty or other staff members does not fulfill the University ADA accommodation requirements. Verification through documentation from a health care provider is required prior to accommodations being determined and fulfilled. The campus ADA Compliance Officer will review documentation for accommodation consideration. Students must allow several weeks between self-disclosure and accommodations being made and should schedule coursework accordingly.
Determination of reasonable accommodations and compliance with the ADA and Rehabilitation Act for students are managed by the Director of University Services, located in Phoenix, Arizona. No student shall be retaliated against for seeking accommodation under the policy or for participating in any complaint procedures brought against the University for its noncompliance with the policy.
