Principal Certificate

(Kindergarten - Grade 8)

The Arizona Department of Education, Teacher Certification Unit, requires the following for Elementary Teacher Certification*:

Possession of a valid Arizona Elementary, Secondary or Special Education Teaching Certificate

A Master's degree or more advanced degree from a regionally accredited institution

Verification of 3 years of pre-kindergarten - 12 teaching experience

Completion of an internship as a principal

Passing score on the Administrative Professional and Proficiency portions of the Arizona Teacher Proficiency Assessment

Completion of an approved program in educational administration for principals, including at least thirty graduate semester hours in educational administration course work
