Secondary Education Certificate

Grade 7 - Grade 12

The Arizona State Department of Education requires the following*:

Possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution

Thirty semester hours of education course work from an accredited institution to include at least eight semester hours of practicum* in grades 7 - 12. Two years of verified teaching experience in grades 7 - post-secondary may substitute for the eight semester hours of practicum.

VPassing score on the ATPA Secondary Professional Knowledge Exam

Passing Score on one or more of the ATPA Subject Knowledge Examinations. If a Subject Knowledge Exam is unavailable for an approved area, then the applicant must have twenty-four semester hours in the approved area from an accredited institution.
